The Milngavie Heritage Centre participated in Local History Week 2012.
The theme was 'Sport' and the Centre open its doors to the public with an exhibition and a series of public talks.

The exhibition, which presented displays of historic photographs of sport activities in Milngavie, Bearsden and the surrounding areas, was put together by sport groups, schools and clubs.

Two of the talks by Colin Castle and Bill Binks were focused on sporting activities in the area, in particular fencing and archery, with some demonstrations by the speakers!

A talk on wrestling by John McCourtney unravelled a remarkable story.

The talk on West Highland Way by John Hooper demonstrated both the challenges and the unique experience of walking the WHW . Special guests to that talk were Tom and Margaret Hunter, the inspiration and driving force behind the creation of this World attraction.
